COVID-19 Vaccines

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has authorized the use of a three vaccines against the SARS CoV-2 virus (COVID-19).

At present none of the three COVID-19 vaccines currently available are covered under the National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program (VICP). That program provides financial compensation to individuals who file a petition and are found to have been injured by specific vaccines. The exclusion of COVID-19 vaccines from this program is likely in part because COVID-19 is currently classified as a global pandemic and none of the vaccines used to prevent it are recommended for routine administration in children.

Because COVID-19 is currently classified as a pandemic, anyone injured by a COVID-19 vaccine may be able to seek redress through the Countermeasures Injury Compensation Program (CICP). Information about that program can be found here. Unfortunately, the CICP is an administrative program that does not have provisions for legal representation. This fact sheet can help guide you through the process. The benefits request form can be found here.

Please note that you have one (1) year from the date of vaccine administration to file for compensation in the CICP. You can also get information on filing for these benefits here.

If you are experiencing a negative reaction to a COVID-19 vaccine, we recommend that you consult your primary care physician and thoroughly document any reaction, tests and/or treatments provided.

The VICP does not currently cover the COVID-19 vaccine. Sign up below to be notified if COVID-19 vaccine injury claims become eligible under the VICP in the future.
